Named for its 20,000+ handmade İznik blue tiles, the Blue Mosque is the only mosque in Turkey with six minarets. Its cascading domes and elegant interior have made it Turkey's most visited mosque and an icon of Istanbul.

The masterwork of architect Sinan, built for Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Its dome reaches 53 meters and the complex includes a hospital, schools, library, bath, and soup kitchen — a complete social welfare center.

Architect Sinan considered this his masterwork. Its dome, at 31.3 meters, slightly exceeds Hagia Sophia's, achieving Sinan's lifelong quest. The interior features İznik tiles from the finest period of tile production.
